About
ANIMISM
An International Art & Technology Initiative
Presented by EcoArt Project
Executive Summary
Animism is an international art initiative exploring one of humanity's oldest beliefs through the language of contemporary technology.
Inspired by the concept of Animism—the belief that every element of nature possesses a spirit or living essence—the project invites artists, designers, architects, technologists, filmmakers, musicians, AI creators, and multidisciplinary innovators from around the world to imagine new forms of storytelling that reconnect people with the living world.
Through immersive installations, digital media, projection mapping, holography, artificial intelligence, spatial sound, mixed reality, interactive environments, sculpture, and emerging technologies, Animism will transform empty architectural spaces into journeys of contemplation, wonder, and discovery.
The initiative is produced by EcoArt Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering environmental awareness through art, design, and innovation.
Vision
Technology has transformed the way we see the world.
Animism asks a different question:
Can technology help us feel the world again?
Rather than using technology only as entertainment, Animism explores its ability to awaken empathy, imagination, mindfulness, and our relationship with nature.
The exhibition becomes a sequence of stories—each artist creating a unique universe where visitors encounter invisible forces, forgotten ecosystems, future landscapes, and living memories.
Every room becomes a chapter.
Every visitor becomes part of the narrative.
The International Open Call
Animism begins with a worldwide Open Call lasting approximately six months.
Artists and creative professionals from every discipline are invited to submit proposals that reinterpret Animism through contemporary artistic practice.
Eligible media include:
• Immersive projection environments
• Video art
• 3D projection mapping
• Holograms
• Pepper's Ghost installations
• Interactive environments
• Artificial Intelligence
• Digital sculpture
• Sound installations
• Mixed Reality (AR/VR)
• Kinetic art
• Bio Art
• Light installations
• Experimental design
• Multidisciplinary storytelling
The initiative welcomes established artists alongside emerging voices whose work pushes the boundaries between art, science, technology, ecology, and human perception.
Curatorial Process
An international jury composed of curators, museum professionals, artists, architects, scientists, technologists, and cultural leaders will review all submissions.
Selected projects will become part of the inaugural Animism Exhibition in New York City.
The jury will evaluate works based on:
• Artistic excellence
• Originality
• Innovation
• Storytelling
• Emotional impact
• Environmental relevance
• Technical execution
The Exhibition Experience
Animism is conceived as an immersive journey rather than a traditional exhibition.
The ideal venue is a large vacant office building whose individual rooms become independent artistic worlds.
Visitors move from room to room, experiencing a carefully choreographed sequence of environments.
Each space presents a different interpretation of Animism.
The architecture itself becomes part of the artwork.
Instead of viewing objects on walls, visitors enter complete narratives—spaces designed to encourage reflection, curiosity, emotional engagement, and restoration.
The experience is intended to be contemplative, regenerative, educational, and deeply memorable.
Education & Public Engagement
Animism extends beyond the exhibition through an educational program designed for diverse audiences.
Programming may include:
• Artist talks
• Panel discussions
• Workshops
• University collaborations
• Student tours
• Technology demonstrations
• Sustainability forums
• Family programs
• Educational publications
The initiative encourages dialogue between artists, scientists, educators, technologists, environmental organizations, and the public.
A Traveling Global Experience
Following its New York premiere, Animism is envisioned as a traveling exhibition that evolves with each destination.
Each city may introduce new artists, local collaborations, educational programming, and site-specific installations while maintaining the project's overarching vision.
The goal is to establish Animism as an internationally recognized cultural platform where immersive storytelling fosters environmental awareness, innovation, and cross-cultural dialogue.
