OYAMEL
La deforestazione minaccia le abetaie di oyamel nelle montagne del Messico, habitat riproduttivo di centinaia di milioni di farfalle monarca. La ridotta densità degli oyamel creata dal disboscamento illegale e i cambi climatici nella Riserva della Biosfera della Mariposa Monarca causano un calo della temperatura all’ origine della morte per congelamento di milioni di farfalle minacciandone l’estinzione.

Deforestation endangers the oyamel fir forests in the mountains of Mexico, reproductive habitat for hundreds of millions of monarch butterflies. The reduced thickness of the oyamel trees caused by illegal deforestation and the changes of climatic conditions in the Biosphere Reserve for the Monarch Butterfly bring about a fall in temperature that puts to death millions of butterflies by freezing, threatening them with the extinction of the species.
