Acqua. Principio unificatore di tutte le realtà, elemento plasmante dell’universo, secondo Talete l’arkè di tutte le cose. Signora incontrastata della natura; Grande Madre generatrice; Colei che tutto circonda, tutto circoscrive e scorre secondo il mito omerico di Oceano, progenitore di dei e uomini, nel quale principio e fine convergono. Unità primordiale che perduti i significati cosmologici si trasfigura assumendo connotazioni ambivalenti. […] Il campo d’indagine espressiva di Maria Grazia Oppo si pone al confine tra artificiosità e naturalezza così come l’acqua si pone al confine tra il mondo dei vivi e quello dei morti, tra l’alfa e l’omega, tra principio e fine.

Water. Principle unifier of all reality, the pulsing element of the universe; according to Talete, the Arkè, of all things. The uncontested Lady of nature, the Great Mother procreator, She who encompasses all, She who confines and flows as in the Homeric myth of Oceanus, the procreator of gods and men, in which the beginning and end converge. Primordial unity that has lost its cosmic meaning, has transformed and assumed ambivalent aspects. […] The area of research that Maria Grazie Oppo proposes is upon the edge between artfulness and naturalness such as water draws the line between the world of the living and that of the dead, between alpha and omega, between the beginning and the end.
