DESERT

L’installazione  composta da 7 grandi fotografie retroilluminate rappresenta attraverso il corpo femminile in diverse posizioni plastiche, che diventa duna, il passaggio dall’alba al tramonto nel deserto .
Il corpo femminile assume la valenza sia della donna, generatrice di vita, che duna in quanto natura in continuo movimento. Donna capace di generare energia vitale.
Dalle foto con un sistema di retroilluminazione  si irradiano ad intermittenza , mediante una particolare centralina, i colori che ho realmente visto nel deserto durante un mio viaggio, i blu della notte  , che si tingono di rosa e violetto nelle due foto dedicate all’alba, fino ai toni dell’arancio e del rosso del giorno  , mezzogiorno  e tramonto. Energia della luce, anche in questo caso della natura , che si proietta all’interno di uno spazio costituito da grandi pannelli in tessuto bianchi su cui sono affisse le foto.
All’interno di questo spazio simbolico , sarà posta della sabbia che diventa l’elemento concreto delle dune, dalla quale di leverà  in una danza una performer africana che accompagnata da un musicista anch’esso africano effettueranno una breve(8 min)  ma ritmata danza , che riporta a ritmi ancestrali e simboleggia l’origine della vita . Lo spettatore sarà immerso in questo spazio dove si rivivranno tali percezioni sensoriali e visive. Nei giorni successivi all’inaugurazione, sarà proiettato un video che riprende la danza dei performer.
Ritengo che questa installazione nei suoi vari aspetti , dalle foto che sono l’elemento più etereo , ma  fonte di luce , fino alla sabbia elemento di terra, siano riconducibili ad un'unica fonte che è appunto l’energia, vitale, procreatrice, solare, in sostanza l’energia che sta nella natura fonte della nostra vita e sussistenza. Energia da salvaguardare .

Women – Dunes

Ivana Russo utilizes photography and computer technology to create an aesthetic world in which dreams and reality interact together.  Her latest installation is composed of seven large pieces, illuminated from behind, and is called, ‘Desert.’  The curvature of the feminine form in combines symbiotically with the fluctuating dunes of a desert, literally bringing to light an investigation into the depths of technological perception.

Russo’s work is distinguished by a luminous creativity and innate irony.  The images she delivers are suggestive, sensual, intriguing, and bewitching in their brilliant immediacy.  Prismatic, palpable, impulsive and hypnotic are the colors that define the desert, accentuating a fascinating sense of interconnection when welded with the faceless silhouette of a woman who seems almost surprised at the impetus of a candid intercourse.

Witnessing this work places us in the center of a whirlwind of grand force.  Rather, it is the variant convergence of multifarious fields that amalgamate with a languid solar rhythm, revealing as visible that which is hidden.

Suspended and contained in subtly nuanced choreographed form, the colors modulate knowingly.  The unclothed female bodies unfold before us in a continuous state of transformation, of becoming.  Woman is desert, dune, serpent, color, sign, rhythm and light.

Voluminous forms emerge in vibrating and delectable cast.  Lyrical contrast creates a tremendous allusion to a parallel reality, strong and immediately perceptible.  A musical backdrop of Eastern extraction unites the installation.  Art and music weave together to free up diversiform rhythms, image and otherwise, destined to return to their original static intricacy, unfettered by the confines of time.

Ivana Russo brings to life her vision with a passion not all are capable of manifesting.  She combines music and photography so that we may also be submerged in her world, to dance with her in celebration of freedom of spirit and timelessness of nature and the energy contained in motionlessness.  Modern catharsis, whatever you wish to call it, as viewer, you cannot help but feel transformed by her vision.  Ms. Russo’s work speaks to us on a soul level.  For this reason, it remains with us, a powerful example of the potential for art to transport us to higher levels of consciousness.
