Finalità e Temi
Il Concorso Contemporary EcoArt Contest è il primo step del progetto EcoArt Project, Partner Ufficiale della Campagna Europea SEE (Sustainable Energy for Europe), organizzato da Fortunato Productions con la partecipazione dell'Associazione Culturale ArtForPro, con il Patrocinio del Ministero per i Beni e le Attività Culturali, del Ministero dell’Ambiente e della Tutela del Territorio e del Mare, della Regione Lazio (Assessorato alla Cultura, Spettacolo e Sport), della Provincia di Roma, dell’ENEA (Ente per le Nuove Tecnologie, l’Energia e l’Ambiente) ed infine della Fondazione Pubblicità Progresso.

Il progetto è finalizzato a fare ricerca della creatività e promozione dell’arte contemporanea attraverso artisti e creativi ispirati e contaminati da tematiche ambientali. Si vuole stimolare, attraverso il linguaggio universale dell’arte, la riflessione sulle urgenze delle problematiche ambientali che affliggono il pianeta. Si intende così creare una interconnessione tra il mondo dell’arte e quello della comunicazione, con una particolare aderenza al tema della sensibilizzazione.

I temi del Contemporary EcoArt Contest, sui quali gli artisti sono chiamati ad esprimere la loro creatività, sono i seguenti:

• Clima
• Energia
• Foreste
• Inquinamento
• Riciclo
• Eco-Sostenibilità

    Le opere Clima sono ispirate e hanno chiari riferimenti alle tematiche inerenti i mutamenti climatici. Questi sono considerati variazioni a livello globale del clima della Terra: temperature massima e minima, precipitazioni, nuvolosità, temperature degli oceani... Sono dovuti a cause naturali e, negli ultimi secoli, si ritiene anche all'azione dell'uomo le cui influenze sul clima sono causa di dibattito scientifico. Si utilizza questo termine, in modo poco appropriato, per riferirsi anche soltanto ai cambiamenti climatici che avvengono nel presente, utilizzandolo quindi come sinonimo di riscaldamento globale.

    Le opere Energia sono ispirate e hanno chiari riferimenti alle tematiche inerenti le fonti di energie rinnovabili. Sono da considerarsi energie rinnovabili quelle forme di energia generate da fonti che per loro caratteristica intrinseca si rigenerano o non sono "esauribili" nella scala dei tempi "umani" e, per estensione, il cui utilizzo non pregiudica le risorse naturali per le generazioni future. Sono dunque generalmente considerate "fonti di energia rinnovabile" il sole, il vento, il mare, il calore della Terra, ovvero quelle fonti il cui utilizzo attuale non ne pregiudica la disponibilità nel futuro, mentre quelle "non rinnovabili", sia per avere lunghi periodi di formazione di molto superiori a quelli di consumo attuale (in particolare fonti fossili quali petrolio, carbone, gas naturale), sia per essere presenti in riserve non inesauribili sulla scala dei tempi umana (in particolare l'isotopo 235 dell'uranio, l'elemento attualmente più utilizzato per produrre energia nucleare), sono limitate nel futuro.

    Le opere Foreste sono ispirate e hanno chiari riferimenti alle tematiche inerenti il disboscamento. Questo é qui inteso come l'abbattimento degli alberi per motivi commerciali o per sfruttare il terreno per la coltivazione, con tecniche distruttive per il sottobosco e per tutto l’habitat naturale. Rientrano in questa categoria anche gli effetti sull' ambiente causati dagli incendi.

    Le opere Inquinamento sono ispirate e hanno chiari riferimenti alle tematiche inerenti le alterazioni dell'ambiente che producono disagi o danni permanenti per la vita di una zona e che non è in equilibrio con i cicli naturali esistenti. Esistono molti tipi di inquinamento, a seconda del tipo (dell’acqua, del suolo, chimico, acustico, elettromagnetico, luminoso, termico, genetico o nucleare) o a seconda della causa (ad esempio inquinamento naturale, domestico, architettonico, urbano, agricolo, industriale o biologico).

    Le opere Riciclo sono ispirate e hanno chiari riferimenti alle tematiche inerenti il riciclaggio dei rifiuti, ossia tutto l'insieme di strategie volte a recuperare materiali dai rifiuti per riutilizzarli invece di sprecarli. Possono essere riciclate materie prime, semilavorati, o materie di scarto derivanti da processi di lavorazione, da comunità di ogni genere (città, organizzazioni, villaggi turistici, ecc), o da altri enti che producono materie di scarto che andrebbero altrimenti sprecate o gettate come rifiuti. Il riciclaggio previene lo spreco di materiali potenzialmente utili, riduce il consumo di materie prime, e riduce l'utilizzo di energia, e conseguentemente l'emissione di gas serra.

    Le opere Eco-Sostenibilità sono ispirate e hanno chiari riferimenti alle tematiche inerenti lo sviluppo sostenibile. Questo è una forma di sviluppo (che comprende lo sviluppo economico, delle città, delle comunità, ecc.) che non compromette la possibilità delle future generazioni di perdurare nello sviluppo, preservando la qualità e la quantità del patrimonio e delle riserve naturali, che sono esauribili. L'obiettivo è di mantenere uno sviluppo economico compatibile con l'equità sociale e gli ecosistemi, operante quindi in regime di equilibrio ambientale. Il rinnovamento delle risorse è al centro del discorso di ecosostenibilità.

Il sito internet www.ecoartproject.org si pone come piattaforma di risorsa aperta e vetrina comunicativa. Si prevede la realizzazione di un Catalogo a colori bilingue (italiano-inglese), curato dal critico d’arte Gianluca Marziani. Sono previste anche attività di promozione per i Vincitori e Selezionati. L'organizzazione ambisce anche alla creazione di vari eventi espositivi e di sensibilizzazione, in Italia e all’estero, attraverso “EcoArt Events” e “Contemporary EcoArt Tour” internazionale.

Partecipazione
La partecipazione a Contemporary EcoArt Contest è gratuita.

Possono partecipare artisti di ogni nazionalità e residenza che alla data del 12 febbraio 2009 abbiano compiuto i 18 anni di età.

E’ ammessa la partecipazione in Gruppo. Il Modulo di Iscrizione del Gruppo deve essere compilato e firmato da uno solo dei membri, che ne diviene il proponente. Egli deve aver compiuto i 18 anni di età come sopra. Per individuare il Gruppo sul Sito, sul Catalogo, sul materiale di comunicazione e su eventuali pubblicazioni, deve essere indicato un nome di fantasia, un acronimo o un nick-name.

Le Opere e Lavori presentati possono essere di nuova realizzazione o già realizzati.

L’Opera candidata dovrà essere accompagnata da una Breve Relazione (massimo 350 battute), tradotta anche in inglese, che spieghi il legame e l'affinità tra il lavoro presentato e almeno uno dei temi del concorso.

Contemporary EcoArt Contest è diviso in 2 Sezioni a seconda del Media utilizzato.

Allo stesso artista e’ consentito, con Opere o Lavori diversi, la partecipazione ad entrambe le Sezioni del Concorso. E’ obbligatorio, in tal caso, effettuare due Iscrizioni totalmente separate.

Ad ognuna delle Sezioni e’ possibile partecipare con una sola Opera o Lavoro. Per Lavoro si intende un progetto articolato ma unitario, composto da più immagini o elementi.

SEZIONE 1) IN CONCORSO

SEZIONE 2) FUORI CONCORSO

I Lavori selezionati nella Sezione 2) non entrano nel catalogo EcoArt Book 2009.

Media:

- ECO-DESIGN
Si intende valorizzare l’esistenza e la possibilità di creazione di oggetti di design costruiti con materie e criteri “eco-friendly”.

- SPOT / PUBBLICITA' SOCIALE / SLOGAN
Un filmato o un messaggio breve ed incisivo (max 1 minuto se video), che trasmetta un messaggio intenso e facilmente memorizzabile. Le lingue ammesse sono l’italiano e l’inglese. Non sono ammessi Spot o Slogan volgari, e/o propagandistici di nomi o loghi, e/o con espliciti riferimenti politici, religiosi o di razza. Le lingue ammesse sono l’italiano e l’inglese. Modalità di Iscrizione

Per entrare nel Contemporary EcoArt Contest bisogna compilare ed inviare il modulo di pre-iscrizione elettronico a cui si accede cliccando sul pulsante partecipa posizionato sulla homepage del sito www.ecoartproject.org.

Dopo aver effettuato la pre-iscrizione, l’artista riceve, nella casella e-mail che ha indicato, una email di conferma che contiene l'elenco dei documenti e le istruzioni tecniche per completare l'iscrizione, con i formati file di immagini e video da inviare.

Termine per l’iscrizione PROROGATO AL 31 AGOSTO 2009

La Documentazione di Iscrizione deve pervenire all’Organizzazione entro il giorno 31 Agosto 2009.

Non saranno prese in considerazione le iscrizioni ricevute oltre tale data.

Giuria - Selezione - Vincitori - Premi

I componenti della Giuria sono scelti da Fortunato Productions fra illustri rappresentanti del mondo delle istituzioni, della cultura e del mondo artistico, della comunicazione, dell’ambiente, del design e dell’imprenditoria. Clicca qui per consultare l'elenco dei membri della Giuria.

Le decisioni della Giuria saranno inoppugnabili ed insindacabili in qualsiasi sede.

Per la Sezione 1) Saranno selezionate 30 opere da pubblicare sul Catalogo EcoArt Book 2009, curato dal critico d’arte Gianluca Marziani, illustrato a colori, in doppia lingua italiano-inglese.
Tra queste 30 opere ne saranno scelte 6, in base alla potenza, qualità e densità morale del loro messaggio di sensibilizzazione, che saranno oggetto della mostra Contemporary EcoArt Exhibition, che sará prossimamente organizzata a Roma. Queste ultime sei avranno inoltre visibilità su prodotti editoriali dei Media Partner di EcoArt Project.

Per la Sezione 2) Sarà selezionato un Lavoro per ognuno dei 3 media fuori concorso. I Lavori selezionati saranno inclusi nella mostra EcoArt Exhibition e saranno oggetto di attenzione sulla homepage del Sito e poi proposti ai vari Partner e Friends di EcoArt Project, per essere eventualmente utilizzati in attività di promozione.

Per entrambe le Sezioni, la qualità, la ricerca, l'innovazione e la contemporaneità sono i criteri fondamentali della selezione delle Opere o dei Lavori. L’utilizzo di materiali a basso impatto ambientale o di materie riciclate costituirà un valore aggiunto nella valutazione complessiva dell’Opera o del Lavoro.

Solo i Selezionati saranno contattati direttamente dall'Organizzazione. Tutti gli altri partecipanti potranno seguire lo svolgimento del Concorso informandosi sul Sito.

Per l'allestimento della mostra sarà l’Artista stesso a provvedere, a sue spese, al trasporto (andata e ritorno) (Roma) della sua opera o lavoro, e se lo ritenesse opportuno, alla sua assicurazione per il periodo di trasporto e mostra. Per le opere scultoree e installative, eventuali costi di costruzione e allestimento in loco saranno a cura dell’artista.

E’ negli intenti dell’Organizzazione creare mostre ed eventi in Italia e all’estero, con il “Contemporary EcoArt Tour” internazionale. Questa fase del progetto dipenderà dal Network che si riuscirà a formare e dai Partner e Sponsor che entreranno a far parte di EcoArt Project.

Accettazioni

L’iscrizione al Contemporary EcoArt Contest, sia nella Sezione 1) che nella Sezione 2), ne comporta implicitamente l’integrale accettazione, da parte dell’Iscritto, del presente Regolamento, in ogni sua parte. Fa parte di questo Regolamento anche il Modulo di Pre-Iscrizione elettronico presente sul Sito web, la Conferma di Pre-Iscrizione che l’artista riceve via email e il Modulo di Iscrizione.

L’Artista dichiara di essere consapevole che la presentazione della Documentazione di Iscrizione incompleta e/o non conforme al presente Regolamento e alle caratteristiche tecniche presenti nella Conferma di Pre-Iscrizione, costituisce causa di esclusione.

Il candidato dichiara e garantisce la paternità e la piena disponibilità dell’Opera e dei Lavori nonché la titolarità esclusiva di tutti i diritti alla stessa inerenti, ivi incluso il diritto di pubblicazione e sfruttamento economico. Dichiara di essere interamente responsabile dei contenuti del materiale visivo e testuale trasmesso. Dichiara di manlevare e tenere Fortunato Productions indenne da qualsiasi eventuale pretesa che dovesse essere avanzata da terzi in relazione all’Opera o al lavoro e/o alla sua riproduzione, pubblicazione e/o sfruttamento, anche economico.

L’Artista concede all'organizzatore Fortunato Productions i diritti di riproduzione delle Opere e dei Lavori e dei testi inviati per l’Iscrizione che serviranno per creare il Catalogo, archiviare le adesioni e pubblicizzare le opere sul sito web www.ecoartproject.org, sui social network, o per altre forme di comunicazione, promozione e attività dell'organizzatore. L’Artista dichiara di essere consapevole che rimane piena ed esclusiva facoltà di Fortunato Productions di decidere in merito alla pubblicazione delle Opere o Lavori sul sito internet, alla pubblicazione del Catalogo e all’organizzazione di eventi e di esposizioni.

Dichiara di accettare tutte le decisioni della Giuria, riconoscendo che le sue scelte sono insindacabili ed inoppugnabili in qualsiasi sede.

Dichiara di essere consapevole che l’Opera o il Lavoro verrebbe escluso dal Contemporary EcoArt Contest ove risultasse in tutto o in parte copiata o realizzata in violazione di diritti altrui.

Trattamento dei dati personali
Ai sensi e per gli effetti dell’art. 13 del d.lgs. 30 giugno 2003 n. 196 i dati personali, le informazioni, le immagini e i video, che vengono acquisiti nell’ambito del presente concorso Contemporary EcoArt Contest sono raccolti e trattati, anche con l’ausilio di mezzi elettronici, per le finalità e attività connesse allo svolgimento del concorso e del progetto EcoArt Project, ivi inclusi la realizzazione di eventi espositivi e la pubblicazione sul sito www.ecoartproject.org e sul Catalogo, ovvero per dare esecuzione agli obblighi di legge. L’Artista iscrittio al concorso, autorizza espressamente l'organizzatore Fortunato Productions, nonché i suoi diretti delegati, a trattare i dati personali anche ai fini dell’inserimento in banche dati gestite dalle persone suddette. L’Artista avrà facoltà di esercitare, riguardo all’esistenza ed al trattamento dei dati personali che li riguarda, i diritti di cui all’art. 7 del citato decreto.

Purpose and Themes
The Contemporary EcoArt Contest is the first step of the EcoArt Project, Official Partner of the Sustainable Energy for Europe Campaign. The contest is organized by Fortunato Productions with the partecipation of the Cultural Association ArtForPro and the endorsement of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, the Italian Ministry for the Environment and Territory, the Regional Minister for Culture, Entertainment and Sport of Lazio, the Province of Rome, the ENEA (Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and the Environment) and of the Foundation Pubblicità Progresso.

The project aims to conduct a creativity research and promote contemporary art via artists and creative individuals who are inspired and contaminated by environmental themes. The project hopes to stimulate, through the universal language of art, reflection on the urgency of environmental problems that affect the planet. Its aim is to create connections between the domains of art and communication, with particular attention to promoting awareness.

The Contemporary EcoArt Contest's themes, regarding which the artists are requested to express their creativity, are the following:

• Climate
• Energy
• Forests
• Pollution
• Recycling
• Eco-Sustainability

    The works Climate are inspired and have clear reference to themes inherent in climate change. These may be global changes in the earth’s climate: maximum and minimum temperatures, precipitation, clouds, ocean temperatures….  These changes are due to natural causes and, in recent centuries, also to human actions. The term “climate change” is generally used to refer only to present changes in the climate (and therefore as a synonym for “global warming”).

    The works Energy are inspired by and clearly refer to themes inherent on the sources of renewable energy. This includes: forms of energy that are renewable, forms of energy that are generated from sources that regenerate themselves or that not exhaustible in the scale of human time, and, by extension, whose use does not endanger natural resources for future generations. “Sources of renewable energy” are therefore considered to be: the sun, the wind, the sea, geothermal, or sources whose current use does not endanger their availability in the future. Sources that are not renewable include those that require a long period of time to develop that far exceeds the time in which they are consumed (specifically fossil fuels such as oil, carbon, and natural gas), or that produce waste that cannot be eliminated on the scale of human time (specifically, uranium isotope 235, the element currently most used to produce nuclear energy).

    The works Forests are inspired by and clearly refer to themes inherent in deforestation. Deforestation consists of in the removal of trees for commercial motives or to use land for cultivation, and which use techniques that are destructive of undergrowth and the all natural habitat. Belong to this category also the effects on the environment caused by arsons.

    The works Pollution are inspired by and clearly refer to themes inherent in alterations of the environment that permanently damage life and that are not in equilibrium with existing natural cycles. There are many types of pollution, according to the type (of water, soil, chemicals, sound, electromagnetic, light, thermal, genetic, or nuclear) or according to the cause (for example, pollution that is natural, domestic, architectural, urban, agricultural industrial, or biological).

    The works Recycling are  inspired by and clearly refer to themes inherent in recycling garbage, or the entire set of strategies aimed at recuperating materials from refuse for reuse. Material that can be recycled comes can derive from work processes, from communities of any type (cities, organizations, tourist destinations, etc.) or from other entities that produce refuse that would otherwise be thrown away. Recycling prevents the waste of materials that are potentially useful, reduces the consumption of natural resources, and reduces the use of energy and therefore the emission of carbon gases.

    The works Eco-Sustainability are inspired by and clearly refer to themes inherent in sustainable development. This is a form of development (including economic development, urban development, and community building) that does not comprise the possibility for future generations to continue progressing, preserving the quality and quantity of non-renewable resources. Renewable resources are at the center of the discussion of ecosustainability.

The website www.ecoartproject.org has been created as an open resource platform. Ultimately, it will be produced a bilingual (Italian/English) exhibition catalog edited by art critic Gianluca Marziani. Promotional activities are also planned for the winning and selected artists. The organization also aims to create various exhibitions and awareness-promoting events in Italy and abroad under the banners of “EcoArt Events” and an international “Contemporary EcoArt Tour.”

Participation
It is free to participate in the Contemporary EcoArt Contest.

Artists of all nationalities who are 18 years old as of February 12, 2009 may participate.

Groups are allowed to participate. The group’s registration must be completed and signed by only one of its members, who will be its chairperson. S/he must be at least 18 years old. The group must select a name, acronym, or nickname that it will be referred to on the website and in the catalog.

The presented works may be either newly created for the contest or already made.

Submitted works must be accompanied by a brief description (max. 350 characters), in English and possibly also in Italian, that explains the connections and affinities between the work presented and at least one of the themes of the contest.

The Contemporary EcoArt Contest is divided into 2 Sections, according to the used Media.

The same artist may participate with different works in both sections of the contest. It is necessary, in this case, to complete two separate registrations.

In each section, an artist may submit only one work. “Work” includes a unified project, consisting of images or elements.

SECTION 1) IN THE CONTEST

Media:
- PHOTOGRAPHY AND DIGITAL ART
The maximum size allowed for each side of the work is 3 meters (9.84 ft)

- PAINTING
The maximum size allowed for each side of the work is 3 meters (9.84 ft)

- VIDEO ART AND ANIMATION
The maximum duration allowed is 30 minutes

- SCULPTURE, INSTALLATIONS AND ENVIRONMENTS
The maximum size is 4 meters x 4 meters (13.12 ft x 13.12 ft)

SECTION 2) OUT OF THE CONTEST

Works selected in Section 2) will not be part of the catalogue EcoArt Book 2009.

Media:

- ECO-DESIGN
This category aims to emphasize the existence and the possibility of creating products that are made up of eco-friendly materials and by eco-friendly processes.

- COMMERCIAL SPOTS / PSA's / SLOGANS
A brief film or a short text (maximum 1 minute if video), that conveys an easly momorable and compelling message. The languages accepted are Italian and English. Vulgar, politically-charged, religious, or racial works will not be admitted, as well as commercials including brand names or logos.

- PERFORMANCE and BODY ART
(maximum duration: 30 minutes)

How to Enter the Contest

To enter the Contemporary EcoArt Contest, complete the electronic pre-registration form, available by clicking “ENTER THE CONTEST” on the ecoartproject.org homepage.

After making the pre-registration, the artist will receive an email confirmation containing the list of the required documents and technical instructions to complete the registration process, including accepted file formats for images and videos.

Deadline POSTPONED TO THE 31st OF AUGUST 2009

Registration Documents must be received by the organization on or before August 31, 2009.

Entries received later will not be taked in consideration.

Jury - Selection - Winners - Prizes

The Panel of Jury will be composed of members selected by Fortunato Productions from among notable professionals of the public institutions, and artistic, design, communication, entrepreneurial and environmental communities. Click here to see the Jury's members list.

The decisions of the Jury are incontrovertible and unchallengeable.

For Section 1) A number of 30 works will be selected to be published in the catalog EcoArt Book 2009, in Italian and English, which will be curated by art critic Gianluca Marziani, illustrated in color.

Among these 30, only six works will be selected, for the power, the quality, and the moral significance of the work’s message, and will be showned in the Contemporary EcoArt Exhibition that will soon take place in Rome. These 6 works will also be promoted in editorial materials of the media partners of EcoArt Project.

For Section 2) It will be selected one work for each one of the 3 media out of the contest. The selected works will be included into the EcoArt Exhibition, also featured on the website homepage and proposed to the Partners and Friends of EcoArt Project to be eventually promoted in other promotion activities.

For both of the Sections, the quality, the research, the innovation, and the relevance will be the fundamental selection criteria for works. The use of materials that have a low environmental impact or of recycled materials will be an added value to the work.

Only the selected artists will be directly contacted by the organization. All other participants can find information about the contest on the website.

In ordedr to mount the exhibition, the artist will cover transportation expenses for the work  to and from the exhibition (Rome). It is the artist’s responsibility to transport and mount sculptures and installations as well as its insurance for the all time.

It is the intent of the organization to create exhibitions and awareness-raising events, in Italy and elsewhere, through an international Contemporary EcoArt Tour. This phase of the contest is in the process of being arranged and its occurrence will depend on the network of partners and sponsors participating in EcoArt Project.

Acceptance
Registration for the Contemporary EcoArt Contest, whether in Section 1) or Section 2) implies the acceptance on behalf of the registree of the hereby Contest Rules in their entirety. Included in these rules is also the electronic registration form on the website, the pre-entry confirmation email and the application form.

The artist declares himself or herself aware that registration documents that are incomplete and/or do not conform to the current rules and technical requirements constitutes grounds for exclusion.

The candidate declares and guarantees ownership and responsibility for the work as the exclusive holder of all of the rights inherent, including the right of publication and economic gain. He or she declares to be entirely responsible for the contents of visual and textual material. He or she declares to keep Fortunato Productions uninjured of any eventual claim that might be advanced, also by third parties, in relation to the work and/or to its reproduction, publication, and/or economic use.

The artist concedes to Fortunato Productions the rights to reproduce works and texts sent as part of the contest, within the catalog, the archive, or in publicity materials, or on the site www.ecoartproject.org, on social networks, or in any other form of communication or activity on behalf of the organizer. The artist declares to be aware that it is full and exclusive right of Fortunato Productions to decide on the merits of publication of the works or texts on the website, or of publication in the catalog and in events and expositions of the organization.

The artist accepts all decisions made by the Jury and is aware that its choices are incontrovertible and unchallengeable.

The Artist is aware that the work will be excluded from the Contemporary EcoArt Contest if it is in full or in part copied or created in violation of the rights of others.

Use of Personal information
In accordance with article 13 d.lgs. 30 June 2003 n. 196, personal information, images, and videos that are acquired as part of the Contemporary EcoArt Contest are collected and used, including by electronic means, for the ends and activities connected to the contest and of the EcoArt Project, including the realization of expositions and the publication on the groups website and in the catalog, or to execute legal obligations.
